The creation of collective action through multiplying the momentum of emotion
We feel. When two feel the same about the same thing, the emotion is reinforced and aligned. When ten individuals agree, they start to become a body of potential conception. At a certain point, the body of thought needs a unifying leader to structure, contain, clarify and direct the emotion, which now has become an ideology, within which it creates a focal point of coordination; a movement is created.
Moses led his people, unifying on the emotional unrest of being enslaved by the Egyptians. Martin Luther united the later German people against the reckless mistreatment and aversion of the Christian faith by the catholic church. Hitler unified Germany through emotions of racial superiority and belief in the state. Trump is unifying a forgotten working class with the extremities of capitalism and anti-socialism.
Multiplication of emotion is what gives populations momentum and creates change.
What then, does shared emotion create most profoundly?
In all the previous examples, oppression is a primary factor. Like a Dandelion forcing itself through asphalt; when sufficient motivational factors are present (pain, hunger, etc.), no forms of life will accept suboptimal environments if something better is available. For humans, this is far from rational and necessarily understood at all by the body of momentum, even though the motivation is abstract. The path of understanding seems to never be strong enough on a collective level when derived from conscious analytical, rational thinking, but only when its roots penetrate subjective emotional experience; the border of (or far beyond) religious captivation.
Humans need to believe in order to act; especially collectively.
We are fighting on two fronts now. Against our self but for our self-preservation. We are fighting our previous 500 years development of capitalistic societies based on least investment for highest gain; a system based in the marginalization of input for highest subjective gain. We are fighting our lowest nature, we are all more human than we wish to be. We are fighting prematurity, within strangling hands of sublimity, with echoes of biological holocaust looming over the horizon. We are our own guards and gurus.
What the current shock to the global civilization potentially might gain is a collective desire and requirement to invest far greater human resources into our collective future, and disgust for extreme private wealth; idle resources preventing progress.
Progress is needed, and as we have heard many times now; this crisis might just be the wake-up call we needed; a collective emotionally interrogation examining our potential future, a sudden clearing in the sky, showing us the consequences of our willful blindness and lack of action in the past; leading us to integration and revitalized action.
That which will Life the most wins, always.
